eBrand Services launches an innovative domain name management solution
With 15 years of experience in the marketing and domain name sector, the founders of eBrand Services (EBS) have designed a solution especially for brand professionals: registration monitoring, optimising domain name visibility and taxation, information and decision making assistance for the new extensions.
Nicolas van Beek, director of the EBS FBS subsidiary and responsible for the French speaking market explains: “More than ever businesses have to prepare for the new challenges raised by the Internet. Strategies can no longer only be focused on brand protection but must also take account of the major changes the naming market will experience within the next few months.”
Protection and negotiation
Against this background, EBS provides its customers with a number of decision making tools, the first being “monitoring”. Unlike many registration companies, eBrand Services does not encourage businesses to register a maximum number of domain names, but prefers to concentrate on the key areas for protection by updating a survey of the domain names that are really essential to the company strategy. Consequently, with full knowledge of the facts businesses can decide to negotiate the surrender of important domain names.
“Cyber-squatting is more of a problem than ever before,” insists Michael Kanstrup, CEO of eBrand Services SA. “Assisted by experienced lawyers, our Group gives businesses the means to expertly combat it and decide on the most appropriate means for re-acquiring strategic domain names.” Working in close collaboration with the Uniform Dispute Resolution Procedure (UDRP) set up by the Czech Court of Arbitration, EBS is able to deal with the whole process from sending an official notification to transferring the domain name to the rights holder. By using the previously mentioned monitoring tools, EBS the company furthermore offers a discreet and efficient negotiation service especially designed for sensitive domain names that need to be recovered quickly.
New marketing uses for domain names
Used to complement brand names, generic domain names – which describe the product or service the business specialises in – are now an essential aspect of attracting as many potential customers as possible to a given site. With its experience and partners in this area, eBrand Services has access to several thousand names of this type in a wide variety of sectors of activity. It is therefore able to negotiate and acquire these on behalf of its customers – and if necessary, anonymously through public auctions.
In addition, as ICANN is preparing to authorise new extensions in addition to the existing “.com”, ”.mobi” and “.asia”, eBrand Services is actively involved in the “dotbrand” project that will enable interested customers to appropriate a brand name extension and so manage their own space on Internet. As Nicolas van Beek says, “The possibility of freeing themselves from “.com” and controlling the naming chain in its entirety is very attractive to some of our customers who would like to ensure they have a special place online and develop their customer loyalty.” By conducting feasibility studies and producing business plans for its customers, eBrand Services enables them to make the best decisions and be ready for the revolution that will take place in the second half of 2010.
